TEST RESULTS

How to get your results

You can obtain your test results by calling reception Monday to Friday between 2:00pm and 4:00pm.

When you attend the treatment room for a blood test or provide a sample requested  by your GP, most results are usually available within 2-3 working days. Please note that some more specialised tests can take longer by the laboratory to be processed.

Understanding you results

GP's review incoming test results daily. They will leave a comment beside each test result for the medical receptionist to relay to you, or to be sent directly to you via text message if you have signed up for this service. If a GP feels that your results require urgent attention, we will contact you directly about this. If it is deemed non-urgent, you may be advised to book a routine appointment to discuss your results further with the GP if needed, issued a prescription or repeat test organised.  Our reception team are not clinically trained and therefore cannot interpret or commment on your results over and above the message that has been left by the GP.

Confidentiality

We operate a strict confidentiality and data protection policy. Results will only be given to the person they relate to, unless:

  • Prior consent has been given to share results with a named individual,or
  • The patient is not capable of understanding the result (children), or
  • The person holds Power of Attorney status

Hospital or Specialist requested tests

If your blood tests were requested by another healthcare provider- for example:

  • During a hospital admission
  • By a specialist nurse or consultant at an out-patient appointment
  • Using consultant -provided labels or blood forms
  • Following attendance at a private hospital

Please do not contact the GP practice for these results.

The results will be returned directly to the healthcare professional whoo requested them. It is the responsibility of that provider to review and follow up on these tests.

You can contact the relevant hospital department or consultant's secretary for further information, or you may receive a letter directly from them with your results.

If you are unsure who requested your test or where to obtain your results, our reception team will be happy to guide you.
