CHRONIC DISEASE ANNUAL HEALTH CHECKS


Chronic Diseases


We perform annual health checks and bloods if required for people with the following conditions :

  • Hypertension
  • Diabetes
  • Secondary prevention of Kidney Disease
  • Secondary prevention of Heart Disease
  • Secondary prevention of Cerebrovascular Disease
  • Secondary prevention of Peripheral Vascular Disease
  • Learning Disability 
  • Asthma
  • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

If you have one of these conditions the practice will contact you annually to arrange a review.


 


DERMATOLOGY PHOTO TRIAGE PATHWAY 


Carrickmore health centre provide a 'tele-dermatology' service for suspected skin cancer. This service is designed to significantly speed up the identification and treatment of 'red flag' (suspected cancer) skin lesions. 


How the red flag photo triage works

  • Initial GP appointment (history taking and specialised dermatoscope images taken with iphone) 
  • Secure transfer of images (SmartDerm App)
  • Consultant review
  • Red flag management

MINOR SURGERY


A very limited number of minor surgical procedures are preformed at the health centre. Medical staff will be able to advise you if your complaint can be dealt with by a member of our team or requires onward referral to the GPES clinic ( General practice Elective Care Service) or Hospital based secondary care services. 


 


JOINT INJECTIONS


Steroid injections, also called corticosteroid injections, are anti-inflammatory medicines used to reduce pain, swelling, and stiffness in specific areas of the body. 

Primary conditions treated include 

Dr Herron, Dr Corry and Dr Slane perform joint injections. You are required to have a triage call and assessment with the GP, to decide on your suitability to have a steroid injection.
