ACUTE PRESCRIPTIONS
Acute presciptions are medications or treatments that your GP prescribes for immediate and short-term health issues. Unlike Repeat prescriptions for long- term conditions. Acute prescriptions are for things like infections or pain management. They are new prescriptions that have not been set up for automatic reordering and require the GP to review your symptoms.
You can request these items by phoning reception from 8:30am Monday-Friday.
If your request is for an antibiotic please be prepared to answer some questions for our medical receptionists. These are designed to ensure you are suitable for an antibiotic to be issued without seeing the GP first. If the receptionist identifies that you have an exclusion to this they will offer you a GP triage call if still available or advise you on alternative options.
ONLINE REPEAT PRESCRIPTIONS
To set up an account for online repeat prescriptions you need to first register for an account with the health centre team. This has to be done by contacting the medical reception team at the health centre either via telephone or in person. In some circumstances you may have to provide photographic ID. You will then be given your registration details which will link your on-line account to your medical record. Folllowing this you should create your on-line account through the Patient access app and link it to your GP practice. Once this is done you are ready to start ordering your repeat prescriptions online!

BLOOD TEST MONITORING
Some medications require regular blood tests to make sure they are working safely and effectively. This may be because you have recently started a new medication, your dose has changed, or you are due your routine annual monitoring.
If blood tests are required, you will receive a letter or be contacted by the practice asking you to arrange these tests.
To booking your blood test please ring reception on 02880761242.
What happens if blood tests are not completed?
If the requested blood tests are not carried out we may need to reduce, delay or temporarily stop issuing repeat prescriptions until the results are received by the practice. This is to ensure your ongoing safety.
CONSULTANT/HOSPITAL ISSUED MEDICATION
Some hospital specialists request blood tests to monitor certain medications or conditions. In some cases, these tests can be carried out at the GP practice to reduce the need for hospital visits.
Patients must bring the correct hospital blood request forms and labels to their appointment so results are returned to the named specialist. Without this paperwork, we may be unabke to take the blood sample.
Please contact the practice if you are unsure what is required.
If you are having problems with your issued medication you should contact your specialist Nurse or Doctor directly either via their secretary or you may have been provided with a help line number.
Although your prescription is issued by the practice, this is at the request of your specialist - GP's cannot adjust the dosage or directions of specialist medication without advice and guidance from the health care provider who started you on this treatment.
